Reverend Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., was something more than just a phenomenon; it was a threshold that we as a nation were able to walk through and become something that we needed to become. Every step required courage, every step required effort, every step required someone to stand for something even when it appeared there wasn’t anything to be able to stand upon.
Dr. King was not just a doer, he was a seer. He saw things that other people didn’t have the faith to see, whether he was standing at the Washington Monument and making an impromptu change to the speech that would change the nation or in a prison cell arrested for something that was considered unacceptable. He was arrested over 20 times in the process of his transformational protests. He even suffered serious attacks to his person and property, and yet he went forward. He went so far that what he stood for, and what he accomplished, is still changing the very nation that we all live in.
