#6 In your referral email, make sure that you are to the point: mention a success and outcome, especially if those outcomes were experienced by your client. If you personalize the email, make sure you highlight some of the projects or assignments you worked on with or for that client.
#7 Make sure that in your email signature, you indicate that you’re always looking for great referrals.
#8 How to ask for the referral? Number one, make sure the email is to the point; don’t waste a lot of time and a lot of words. Short, sweet and direct. Also put in the benefit of the referral to those people who are referring them to you. They strengthen business ties and also can be a means where those people can get referrals for their own business.
#9 In the case of real estate agents after a closed sale, sending a gift card to anyone, thanking them for the opportunity to serve and reminding them that your business runs on referrals is a great tip.
#10 Make sure that your emails look great. They can’t be sloppy, they can’t be messy, and they can’t be confusing. Your first impression is a reflection of why that person should refer someone to you. And remember it is a good chance that the person you’re sending this to may send it to someone else – and so if your email doesn’t look good it won’t get a referral.
#11 Make every effort to be referral worthy.
#12 See that you have a compelling call to action in your referral email. It could be a worksheet, a checklist, or even a case study on what you did and how well you did it.
#13 Also when you are asking for a referral, give them a referral roadmap. What that means is you’re showing them exactly how it’s done and how it doesn’t encroach upon their own relationship with other people, but actually gives them an opportunity to develop their own relationship with their referral base as well.
14 Always be thankful and grateful. Humility and appreciation go a long way. Also consider using their first name several times in the course of the email.
15 These are some of the things not to do: Don’t buy an email list. Make sure that your emails are mobile friendly. Consider using an email service that’s reputable.
