Creating a Cohesive Company Culture

Once upon a time it was believed that management should discourage socializing at work; it was considered to be non-productive time. If people are speaking and socializing at work, they are not getting the work done. But many studies have discovered that the right mix of work and social time actually builds productivity and the human capital element.

What social scientists have discovered is that social time builds up the cohesion within a company, and people are more motivated to do more work for their friends than they are for acquaintances. This provides the platform for a very collaborative culture at work.

What socialization provides is the foundation for any work that is to be accomplished, and that foundation is called trust. What organizations have discovered is that highly productive employees thrive on the social energy born from the friendly relationships people develop at work.

The point being that every organization and company requires relationship-building environments to produce 3 things:

One last note: sleep is the ultimate reset button for mood AND immunity. One of the reasons for this is that the brain uses 20% of the body’s energy but only accounts for 2% of the body’s mass. Another interesting discovery is that the brain is the only organ that needs sleep to clear the waste out of its cells. Sleep figuratively and physiologically clears the mind and provides a restorative process to the person.
