Counsellors Title Agency will pause this Monday, May 25th to remember and honor the courageous men and women of the United States military who made the ultimate sacrifice in service to our nation.
As such, please note that our offices will be closed on Monday, May 25, in observance of Memorial Day, and will reopen Tuesday, May 26th at 8:30am.
While many Americans recognize Memorial Day as the unofficial beginning of summer, the holiday carries a far deeper meaning rooted in remembrance, gratitude, and national reflection.
Originally known as “Decoration Day,” the tradition began following the Civil War, when families and communities gathered to decorate the graves of fallen soldiers with flowers, flags, and tributes of honor. The Civil War claimed the lives of more than 620,000 Americans, leaving an immeasurable impact on families and communities across the country.
Over time, the observance expanded to honor all American military personnel who lost their lives in combat defending the freedoms we enjoy today. In 1971, Memorial Day officially became a federal holiday observed on the last Monday of May.
Today, Americans commemorate Memorial Day in many ways — visiting cemeteries and memorials, attending parades, participating in moments of remembrance, and gathering with family and friends to reflect upon the sacrifices that helped shape and protect this nation.
Memorial Day is distinct from Veterans Day. While Veterans Day honors all who have served in the military, Memorial Day specifically remembers those who gave their lives in service to the United States.
As we enjoy time with loved ones this holiday weekend, may we also remember the extraordinary courage, service, and sacrifice of those Americans who never came home.
From our family at Counsellors Title Agency to yours, we wish everyone a safe and meaningful Memorial Day weekend.
