Gaining Credibility Through Visibility On LinkedIn

One of the things that I learned by doing and then looking and measuring is the power of LinkedIn to raise your visibility. Of course, everyone wants credibility, but if they don’t see you, they won’t listen to you. I learned this from a LinkedIn post about my tree called Second Chance. Over 20 years ago, I planted this red maple outside, only to find some driver had backed into it, knocking it down, leaving a single branch next to the broken stump. It was a baby tree, and so rather than replace it, I chose to let it try to come back, and it did. Today Second Chance is about 22 feet tall. When I posted the story on LinkedIn, the post received 746 impressions. The story and the visual made a statement that resonated with people. I began to use stories and images more often, most of which now get between 100-200 impressions.
Lesson: Most people see before they believe!
