Background on Veterans Day
Veterans Day is an official United States public holiday, observed annually on November 11, that honors military veterans; that is, persons who served in the United States Armed ForcesFormerly Armistice Day, but called Veteran’s day since 1954. It was described by President Woodrow Wilson as a day to be devoted to the cause of world peace and afterward celebrated and known as “Veterans Day.”
