1. Perform a deep clean. The way your home appears to the prospective buyer is going to send a clear and definitive message. Clean everything, especially starting from the walls down. Target windows, window sills, window blinds, and the window frames, as well as the actual glass of the windows, both inside and out. Your home needs to sparkle for prospective buyers. Your carpets and rugs and furniture need to have deep cleaning as well. Make sure you shampoo your carpets and rugs and steam clean your furniture. Pay special attention to pet hair and other household odors that may come as a result of pets.

2. Don’t forget about the closets. Your closets need to be cleared out of the clutter. Make sure they’re not overstuffed with clothes. The clearer they are, the more attractive they become.

3. Curb appeal is sex appeal when it comes to houses. The exterior of the home is the very first sale statement that you make to a buyer. Everything about the appearance and the front of your home from the curb, sidewalk, lawn, steps and porch has to give that “red carpet” feel. Clean is good but attractive and appealing is even better. Now is the time to go and get some plants to possibly enhance the appearance and the welcome factor that people experience when they come to view your home. Power washing and fresh paint are always great ways to increase the “Welcome Home” factor. Especially in the spring and fall, go the extra mile on improving your home’s appearance with flowing plants. Also, don’t forget to trim all the dead branches from the plants that surround your home.
