One of the things all of us have learned over the last 15 months is that when times get tough, you can’t do what you used to do in order to get what you used to get. Going to the gym, going shopping at the mall, and even going away on vacation have all changed dramatically. Now we will have indoor bikes and masks and hand sanitizers. Our culture has a new geography.Three things to be sure but you will probably need when times get tough include: emotional or social support, technological support and new protocol support.The last thing you want to do is try to do this alone so make sure that you have within your in a circle some respected reliable individuals that you can share your concerns with.
Absolutely technology is changing with the new economy. The work-from-home economy is now a reality and how we did our jobs may have changed dramatically depending upon if offices have reopened.
Technology platforms such as Zoom have become standard operating procedures. The worst thing that you can do whenever comes to a new technology platform is to presume but you understand all of its dynamics. As in the case of Zoom make sure you understand how to upload your own distinct background. Also because of the zoom economy so to speak, you will need adequate equipment such as a good mic.
The protocol support that you may need is to set new schedules for yourself. The worst thing that you can do is to be working 15 hours a day from your home. You never get a break and work becomes an all-consuming affair. Get better at task management. Know when to turn off the technology and take a break. And finally, you need to make sure that your exercise program is not “taking a vacation.”
