If there is one thing that the Jersey Shore is known for, it’s beaches. All along the 131 mile stretch, there are 44 beaches.
It’s not only the beaches that are the big attraction. The New Jersey Shore attracts over a million visitors each year to its boardwalks, casinos, parks and fishing inlets.
Some beaches are wider than others, as in the case of Wildwood, which is very wide. Most people come to Wildwood for the boardwalk and the attractions along the boardwalk rather than the beach.
And some beaches don’t have as much parking as you would like. At some the dunes may obscure your view of the ocean, depending upon where you are. For a lot of activities and fun, Seaside Heights has always been a great beach selection.
And for some, they may go to Atlantic City not for the beach but for the gambling casinos.

Another different sort of beach community is Ocean Grove. Ocean Grove is a famous 150-year-old Victorian town with both architecture from the last two-and-a-half centuries as well as quaint shops with sweatshirts, t-shirts and memorabilia, and some fantastic restaurants and pizzerias.
Avon-by-the-Sea is another grand Victorian town with limited parking but a couple of great restaurants right on the boardwalk: The Pavilion and The Columns.
And for those young at heart, there’s always Belmar. Belmar is a long beach, about two miles, with a wide boardwalk and plenty of shops and a couple great places for some nighttime dancing and festivities.
Another popular beach in Monmouth County is Asbury Park. Asbury Park is famous for The Stone Pony, where Bruce Springsteen got his start. The arcades and the various museums give visitors a lot to do when they come to spend their afternoons along the oceanfront.
