One of the things that we can do in the closing days of 2020 to be more effective at work and in life for the coming year is to put together a set of goals.
Distinguish between a goal and something on a to-do list. A task is something that we may have to perform in order to keep interest and momentum in our business but it doesn’t get you business.
A goal is a result of a set of actions that produces an outcome that is hopefully greater than what had been achieved prior to the goal setting.
The goals we set help to trigger new behaviors, guide our focus and assist in sustaining positive momentum.
Another element of goal setting is goals help to align us with our sense of purpose and self-mastery. It is commonly stated that “You can’t manage what you don’t measure.” Goals are intended to help our overall performance.
Part of good goal setting is in selecting an improved environment in which we work. This can also improve how we think in our workspaces.
