Monmouth County was awarded $125,000 through the New Jersey local efficiency treatment program to expand its Community Rating System (CRS) assistance program. 
According to Thomas Arnone, the Monmouth County Freeholder, the grant will be applied to develop the first regionally shared service in New Jersey between the county and its CRS towns.
The CRS systems serve to improve flood mitigation and readiness for the counties.
In order to receive the funds, towns must appoint a dedicated custodian of record known as a CRS coordinator who will organize all CRS activities among the municipal departments.
The management software provides those participating communities the capability to upload store and maintain easy access to all important CRS documentation and resources in one location.
The countywide service does not call for any cost to any community desiring to participate with the CRS program.
The county’s user group offers program assistance to municipal partners and will serve as the Liaisons between participating towns and the software provider.
