Things to look out for
Sneaky subscriptions that appear to be great in the beginning, but then this quick report turns into a $20-a-month subscription with a minimum charge of 2 months. Yikes!
Some sites are only going to give you general information. The problem comes when general information doesn’t give you enough information to make a purchasing decision.
In some cases, certain real estate sites continue to list properties that are no longer available or on the market.
Overall, the good thing about all these real estate websites is they give you information that you can either verify or corroborate through another website. There is no one-stop-shopping when it comes to identifying properties online. Take your time, do your research, look at the reviews for the website and then move on from that stage.
According to Consumer Reports these the top real estate websites out there:
Homes.com

Propertyrecord.com
PropertyRecord.com sells reports about properties which include estimated value, details about the homes, square feet, lot size, year built and more.
Apartments.com
Apartments.com lists available rental properties that tenants can search through to find properties and read reviews of those properties. Also, property owners can advertise their rentals.
Realtor.com
Realtor.com is owned by Move Inc. and is the official website for the National Association of Realtors. It has real estate listings from the MLS for homebuyers and tools for homeowners looking to sell their homes.
