Amazon announced 3 more N.J. facilities, 2,500 jobs, as it opens Carteret center.

As Amazon cut the ribbon on its new Carteret fulfillment center, it concomitantly disclosed plans for another three facilities and the addition of 2,500 new full-time jobs; located in Logan Township, Edison and Cranbury.

It appears that New Jersey’s logistic advantage is seen as a win-win for the Seattle-based e-commerce giant.

The 1 million-square-foot Amazon Carteret facility employs over 2,000 employees and will serve as the hub for Amazon’s shipping operations for the region. The NY-NJ-PA metropolitan statistical area includes a population of 20.2 million people by 2015 Census estimates, accounting for roughly 1 in 16 Americans.

■  The Logan facility, planned to be a 1 million-square-foot operation, is its second in Logan; Amazon already has one facility in Logan Township.
■ The Cranbury location will be used to pick, pack and ship larger customer orders like furniture and music equipment.
■ The 900,000-square-foot Edison facility will deal with smaller items, like books and toys.

Currently Amazon employs over 13,000 full-time employees in New Jersey since its first site back in 2012. Amazon now will have sites in Robbinsville, Avenel, Florence, Carteret, Edison, Cranbury and Logan Township.
